The Slider module is one of the three CHAOS modules in BOMBANANA!, which means it cannot be solved — it can only be managed. Its official rule: "Pull down the continuously rising slider. Continue until the bomb is defused." If the slider reaches the top before the bomb is safe, the round is over.
A Background Job, Not a Puzzle
Where a defusal module has a clear "done" state, Slider never reaches one. It simply keeps trying to creep upward and asks for attention until every other module on the bomb is finished:
- It rises on its own. Nobody has to trigger it; it climbs whenever it is free.
- Pull it back down to reset it.
- Repeat until the bomb is defused. You cannot "win" Slider on its own — you only stop trending when the outer module set is safe.
Assign a Babysitter
Because Slider ties up a hand continuously, decide who owns it before the round. The Blind monkey — the player who interacts with the bomb — usually has the spare hand between inputs on the other modules.
Two habits that keep a Slider round alive:
- Never leave it unattended for a solve. If the babysitter must focus elsewhere, call a hand-off out loud first.
- Bake a "Slider check" into the callout rhythm. Fold it into the same confirmation loop you use for the other modules so it never goes quiet while a defusal is in progress.
Slider first appears as a CHAOS slot early in the campaign (from Level 4 onward) — see the campaign level database. Its CHAOS siblings are Pressure and Alarm. For every module at a glance, start with the modules overview.
